Subject: Bizmen discuss issues related to export promotion
Ludhiana: A meeting of the Export Promotion  Committee (EPC) Ludhiana was organised at the office of the Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) in Focal Point on Saturday. A host of issues related to exports, including IGST refunds, VAT refunds, and customs-related issues were discussed by businessmen on the occasion.

CICU president Upkar Singh Ahuja said: “EPC Ludhiana is working to resolve the issues of exporters with the directorate-general of foreign trade (DGFT), Ministry of External Affairs, Customs, and other departments. Very soon, a meeting with top officials of these departments will be held, and all the problems being faced by exporters will be resolved at the earliest.”

Ahuja also said: “Businessmen should look forward to trying new ways of promoting the exports business, and visiting international exhibitions regularly is one way to do so, which is of immense help to new exporters. CICU will arrange group participation in international fairs in the future for promotion of exports from Punjab, and will also take delegations to Spain, Germany, and China for attending fairs and exhibitions related to different sectors.”

EPC co-convenor Sarvjit Singh, while interacting with members, said most of the issues regarding tax refunds had been sorted out, and the Customs department was working on a solution. He also highlighted the problems of delay in exporters getting bank realisation certificates released.

During the interaction, important issues of EDPMS (Export Data Processing and Monitoring System) were also discussed in detail. A quick release of duty drawback by Customs under the guidance of commissioner of customs AS Ranga was also appreciated. Singh suggested that exporters should first verify and then file GST returns to avoid any delay in refunds. He also gave clarifications on various issues raised by members.
